Recipe:
Omelet in a Bag
This is easy to make, and our grandkids love it! You’ll need:
· freezer-type zip-lock bags
· eggs or egg substitutes
· cheese
· olives
· onions
· green pepper
· tomatoes
· cooked ham
· mushrooms
· toast with butter and jelly
· salsa and hot sauce (for those who like western omelets)
· beverages
· sharpie
· large pot for boiling water
· tongs and gloves
Chop/grate ingredients ahead of time and place in separate bowls. Bring large pot of water to a rolling boil. Have each person write their name on their freezer bag, add two eggs* and one spoonful each of their favorite ingredients. Knead all ingredients by squeezing bag by hand a few times. Drop the bag in the boiling water for 12 minutes. We use a wooden clothes pin to hold bags together that are being dropped in at the same time. We also suggest that one person remove the bags from the boiling water with tongs and place the omelet on plates (to avoid burns).
* Do not use 3 eggs – if a larger omelet is desired make a second one -- 3 eggs make a soggy, yucky omelet.
