Love to travel and love to eat? Me, too! That’s why I created the RV Cooking Show.

The RV Cooking Show grew out of our passion for RVing, seeing new places and sharing travel adventures with friends and family. Even in our 31' 5er we love to have dinner company and are always delighted to host both new and old friends. So often we’d be visiting with our dinner guests and, since RVs have what I call a "great room" layout (the living room, kitchen, dining room all in one), they would be looking over my shoulder while I was cooking – chatting and asking about the dish – sometimes even taking notes.

That prompted me to create a short video series to share with my close circle, designed around the idea of having guests over, talking about where we’ve been and our experiences, and creating and sharing delicious meals. The idea caught on and more and more folks asked to be added to the list. This grew into the current RV Cooking Show – distributed through a wide internet network and at my website www.RVCookingShow.com. It’s been a couple years now and we are still going strong…there are so many more places and recipes to share…it's all good!

In an effort to bring RVing into the mainstream and share the wonderful wandering world of RVing I recently auditioned for the Oprah Winfrey Network. I submitted a three minute video of the show concept – watch it here http://myown.oprah.com/audition/index.html?request=video_details&response_id=19876&promo_id=1 – and received amazing support. The producers and the OWN team will choose 35 auditions to advance to the next level. The optimal outcome is a national TV show on the new network debuting January 2011.

While cooking in an RV is not too terribly different than cooking at home (aside from the counter space) most of us strive for multi-use tools. For example, my strainer is where I drain pasta, wash canned beans or fresh berries, and sift powdered sugar, flour and other dry ingredients. I’ve been known to roll pizza dough with an empty, well-washed wine bottle, use a large stainless steel mezzaluna to chop salads and veggies, cut pizzas and breads, and portion/separate/scoop ingredients, and double duty my glass measuring cup into a perfect mixing bowl.

On the RV Cooking Show website visitors can explore popular or hidden-gem destinations, poke around my RV kitchen cupboards and pantry, print out recipes and checklists, learn about young fulltime RVers, and more. We’ve even got a short eCookbook – Great Getaway Grilling – free to subscribers.

Like so many others out there, we love to travel and love to eat. And let’s face it, we RVers are quite a sharing bunch - what better way to connect than to share stories and break bread. It’s a terrific life!
