Wisconsin Dells is a city in Wisconsin named after the dells of the Wisconsin River, a gorge formed by glaciers. The city became popular in 1857 when the La Crosse and Milwaukee Railroad was built in this area. In 1927, a man-made freshwater lake, called Lake Delton, was created to help bring more visitors to the area. Lake Delton is where you can experience most of the water attractions and resorts. Lake Delton is the home to Tommy Bartlett’s Thrill Show. The area increased in popularity when photographer H. H. Bennett took pictures of the Dells. As Bennett’s pictures spread across the United States, people started pouring into the area.
