When you think of sesame, do you think of pasta? When you think of pasta, do you think of sesame?
We doubt it, but with this terrific sesame pasta dish, you’ll enjoy the best of both.
Sesame seeds may be the oldest of condiments. They are believed to come to us from India (they are mentioned in early Hindu stories as signifying immortality). They then made their way through the Middle East, to Africa and then Asia.
They are prized for their high sesame oil content, an oil that helps foods stay fresh (sesame oil deters rancidity). The seeds themselves also provide some terrific health benefits, as they are full of copper, manganese, magnesium, calcium, iron, zinc, phosphorus, and selenium. They can help with an individual’s bone health as well as lower cholesterol.
Paired with pasta, they provide a nice and light nutty taste to the dish. Evanne Schmarder of the RV Cooking Show offers up a delicious sesame pasta recipe below.
